Zherebina Tatyana Vladimirovna

Biography, education, career:

In 1985 Tatyana Zherebina defended her Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Religious Syncretism (Traditional Beliefs of the Yakuts and Christianity. In 1965‑2008 she occupied the positions of tour-guide and junior researcher at the Origin of Religion Scientific Department, curator of the Archaic Beliefs Department, Head of the Exhibitions Department; since 2007 she is a senior researcher at the Archaic and Primitive Beliefs Department of the State Museum of the History of Religion. Besides, she occupies the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Ethnocultural Studies of the Institute of the Peoples of the North, A.I. Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, Saint-Petersburg.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of Siberia, the Extreme North, and the Far East; Ethnic religious studies; traditional beliefs and shamanism of the peoples of Siberia
