Biography, education, career:
In 1986 Sesegma Zhambalova defended her Candidate’s Dissertation at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography; it was titled Traditional Hunting of Buryats. In 2000 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation in Ulan-Ude, titled Secular and Sacral Worlds of the Olkhon's Buryats (19th-20th Centuries). In 1986‑1990 she was Director of the Museum of Oriental Art of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Buryatia. In 1997‑2001 she occupied the position of senior researcher, and since 2001 she is a leading researcher of the Institute for Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies of the Siberian Branch of the RAS.
