Biography, education, career:
In 1974 Kulemsin defended his Candidate’s Dissertation titled The shamanism of the Vasyugan-Vakhov groups of Khanty (late XIX ‑ first quarter of the 20th century), in 1993 he defended a his Doctoral Dissertation titled The Traditional Worldview of the Khanty people at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 1966 he has successfully occupied the positions of Assistant at the Philosophy Department of the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute, Researcher at the Tomsk Regional Museum of Local History (1966‑1969), since 1970 ‑ technician at the Semiconductor Problem Laboratory and senior lab assistant at the Problem Laboratory of History, Ethnography and then head of the photolaboratory of Tomsk State University (1970‑1972), since 1972 ‑ senior lab assistant at the Department of the USSR History of the Pre-Soviet Period, since 1973 junior, then senior researcher, and since 1993 leading researcher of Problem Research Laboratory for Archaeological and Ethnographical studies of Siberia. Since 1995 he has successfully occupied the position of Professor at the Department of Archeology and History of Regional Studies, Tomsk State University. Also he gives courses on ethnography of Siberia and local history.
