Biography, education, career:
In 1960 Kostyukhin defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Alexander the Great in the literary and folklore traditions, in 1988 – the Doctoral Dissertation, titled Types and forms of animal epos. Since 1963 he successfully occupied the positions of lecturer at the Chimkent State Pedagogical Institute (1963-1966), teacher at the Kazakh Women's State Pedagogical Institute (1966-1968), Associate Professor at Abai Kazakh State Pedagogical University (1968-1983), Professor at the of the Pedagogical Institute in the city of Bydgoszcz (Poland), Associate Professor (1990-2006), Professor at The Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (formerly Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute), Leading Researcher at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1989-2006).
