Biography, education, career:
On 27 December 2000 Tokhir Kalandarov defended his Candidate’s Dissertation at the Institute of Oriental Studies, RAS; it was titled Historical Fates of Shugnans and Their Beliefs. In 1995-1997 he worked as a Lecturer at the Department of General History, Khorugh State University named after M. Nazarshoev, and a junior researcher at the Institute of Humanities of the Pamir Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan. In 2001-2004 he held the position of senior researcher at the Institute of Humanities of the Pamir Branch of Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, and a research assistant at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Since 2009 Kalandarov works at the Centre for Ethnopolitical Research of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Russian Academy of Sciences.
