Biography, education, career:

On 17 May 1977 Lev Ivashchenko defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled The Activities of the Soviet State Aimed to Develop Multinational Literature of the Peoples of the Far East in the Era of Building Socialism in the USSR (1917‑1977). In 1953‑1974 he was a Lecturer of the Znaniye (Knowledge) Society and Director of the Far-Eastern Book Publisher. In 1974‑1996 he successively occupied the positions of junior researcher, senior researcher and Head of the Department of Ethnography and Philology of the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Peoples of the Far-East, Far-Eastern Branch of the Academy of Sciences.
