Biography, education, career:

On 16 June 1967 Mikhail Guboglo defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Small Turkic Peoples of the Balkan Peninsula. On 1 October 1984 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled The Ethno-Social Aspect of Development of Russian-National Bilingualism in the USSR. In 1986‑1988 he was Head of the Department of Ethnography of the Peoples of the Baltic States, the Volga Region, and the European North. In 1988‑2007 he was Deputy Head and from 2007 – Head of the Centre for the Study of Interethnic Relations of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences / Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of RAS.
