Gerd Aleksandr Sergeevich

Biography, education, career:
In 1962 Aleksandr Gerd defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled Morphological Word Formation in Russian. In 1969 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled Problems of Formation of Scientific Terminology. From 1973 he occupied the position of Head of the Department of Mathematical Linguistics, Faculty of Philology, Leningrad State University / SPSU. From 1998 he was Head of interdepartmental dictionary office named after B.A. Larin. During the period of 1955 to 2005 Gerd participated in 50 planned expeditions.
