Biography, education, career:

On 11 February 1964 Dmitry Eremeev defended his Candidate’s Dissertation at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences; it was titled The Origin of Yuruks and Turkmen of Turkey and the Main Stages in their History. In 1971 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, based on his monograph The Ethnogenesis of the Turks (Origin and Main Stages of Ethnic History). Since 1975 he occupies the position of Full Professor at the Department of History of the Near and Middle East of the Institute of Asian and African Countries, Moscow State University.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of the Near and Middle East; Islamic studies; History and ethnography of nomadic peoples; Ethnolinguistics; ethnography and history of the peoples of Turkey
