Biography, education, career:

On 17 June 1997, at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, Olga Brusina defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled Russian and Ukrainian Population in Rural Regions of Uzbekistan. Ethnic and Social Processes in late 19th – early 20th Centuries. Since 2001 she is senior researcher at the Centre for Asian and Pacific Studies at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of RAS, Department of Central Asia.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of Central Asia; Islamic studies; Inter-ethnic relations; customary law of Muslim peoples of Central Asia, population of Central Asia, Central Asian diasporas in Russia, migration processes
