On 25 June 2005 Elena Batieva defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled The Origin and Milestones in Population Dynamics in the Lower Don Area in 9 B.C. – 6 A.D. (a paleoanthropologic study), at Moscow State University. Batieva is a research fellow at Southern Scientific Centre, RAS, in Rostov-on-Don; a Professor at the Faculty of History, Southern Federal University.
