Biography, education, career:
In 1910 –1927 Sergei Baldaev was a teacher and collector of ethnographic and folklore materials. In 1927– 1931 he was a student and then a post-graduate student of the Institute of the Peoples of the East. In 1931– 1938, 1940– 1948 he was a research fellow at the Institute of Language, Literature and Arts, Ulan-Ude. In 1948– 1956 – research fellow at the State Museum of Ethnography in Leningrad. In 1956– 1968 – research fellow at Buryat Institute of Social Sciences, Ulan-Ude. An experienced field researcher.
