Biography, education, career:
In 2001 Sholpan Akhmetova defended her candidate dissertation titled Modern Ethnic Processes among Urban Kazakhs of Western Siberia.
Areas of expertise: Spiritual culture; History and ethnography of the peoples of Central Asia; spiritual and normative culture of the Kazakhs of Western Siberia, including life-cycle rituals, world outlook, and archaeological and ethnographic research of burial settlement complexes of the Kazakh population of Western Siberia
