Biography, education, career:
On 30 November 1979 Tamara Basangova defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled The Problems of Poetics of Mongol-Oirat Heroic Epos, at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. On16 October 2009 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled Kalmyk Ritual Poetry (System of Genres and Poetics), at the The G. Tsadasa Institute of Language, Literature and Art of Dagestan Scientific Centre, RAS (Makhachkala, Republic of Dagestan). T. Basangova is a leading research fellow at the Department of Mongolian Philology, Federal State Budgetary Institution of Science “Kalmyk Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences” (Elista, Republic of Kalmykia, Russian Federation).
