Biography, education, career:

On 4 May 1963 Aleksandr Griunberg-Tsvetinovich defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled The Language of the North Azerbaijani Tats. On 17 May 1974 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled The Languages of the Eastern Hindu Kush: Research and Materials. In 1953‑1956 he did a postgraduate course and then successively occupied the positions of junior researcher (1957-1963, 1968-1971) and senior researcher (1971‑1995) at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR AS / RAS. In 1963‑1968 he worked as a translator for the Ministry of Mining and Industry, Afghanistan. In 1973‑1983 he was an Associate Professor and in 1983‑1995 – Full Professor at the Department of Iranian Philology of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Leningrad State University.
