Biography, education, career:

On 20 April 1962 Lydia Viktorova defended her Candidate dissertation at the Institute of Archaeology of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Leningrad. It was titled Early Stage of Mongolian Ethnogenesis. In 1962‑1981 she was a junior researcher and in 1981‑1998 ‑ a senior researcher at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences (since 1992 – MAE RAS). Lydia Viktorova participated in the Great Patriotic War (1943‑1944).
