Biography, education, career:

In 1982, at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Fedor Vasilyev defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled The Material Culture of Russian Rural Population of Nizhny Novgorod Trans-Volga Region in the 19th – Early 20th Centuries. From 1975 he successively occupied the positions of Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the Department of History of Religion and Culture, Faculty of History, Gorky State University. From 1987 Vasilyev was Head of the Laboratory for Applied Research in History and Culture; then he was in charge of the Ethnos Research Enterprise. He is the author of the research and practice programme, titled Renovations in Natural Resource Management, Anthropogenic Activities, and Infrastructure of Rural Regions of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
