Biography, education, career:

In 1974 Igor Dubov defended his Candidate’s Dissertation under M.I. Artamonov; it was titled The Evolvement of Early Feudal Society in the Yaroslavl-Volga Region. In 1983 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled North-Eastern Rus’ in the Early Middle Ages. From 1974 he successively occupied the positions of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Full Professor at the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of History, Leningrad State University / SPSU. In 1987‑1999 he was Director, and in 1999‑2002 – Head of the Editorial and Publishing Department of the Russian Museum of Ethnography.
