Biography, education, career:

In 1988 Alexander Buganov defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled Historical Perceptions of the Russian Peasants of the 19th Century and the Development of National Identity. In 2011 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled Outstanding Figures and Events in the Popular Consciousness of the Russian Peasants of the 19th – early 20th Centuries. Since 2007 he is Head of the Department of Russian People, Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, RAS.
