In 1999 Muslim Barazbiev defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled Ethnocultural Connections between Balkarians / the Karachai and the peoples of the Caucasus in 18th – early 20th Centuries, at Kabardino-Balkarsk State University.
Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of the North and South Caucasus; ethnology of the Turks of North Caucasus, extremism in among young people
