Biography, education, career:

In 1977 Valentina Baglai defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled The Concept of World Eras in Ancient Mexican Aztec Mythology, at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography, USSR Academy of Sciences; in 2001 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled Economic, Social, and Political Structures of the Aztec Society in Pre-Colonial Mexico, at Stavropol State University.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of North and South America; pre-colonial history, culture and life of the Aztec and Tarascans
