In 1997 Kirichenko defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Traditions of Orthodox Religiosity among Russian Noblemen of the 18th century, in 2011 – the Doctoral Dissertation, titled Female Orthodox Asceticism in Russia: the 19th – mid 20th centuries. At present he is a leading researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the chief editor at Traditions and Modernity. Scientific orthodox journal.
