Biography, education, career:
In 1953 Yundviga Ionova defended her Candidate’s Dissertation at the Institute of Ethnography; it was titled The Korean Village in the Late 19th and Early 20th Centuries (A Historical-Ethnographic Essay). In 1947‑1948 she was a bibliographer of V.I. Lenin State Library of the USSR in Moscow, and a training specialist at Saratov Regional Institute of Teacher Advanced Training. From 1953 she successively occupied the positions of junior researcher (1953‑1976) and senior researcher (1976‑1999) at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography, USSR AS (since 1991 – MAE RAS).
