Biography, education, career:
On 26 May 1970, at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Edit Gafferberg defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled The Baloch of Turkmen SSR. Sketches on the Economy, Material Culture, and Life. In 1928‑1930 she participated in the Central Asian Ethnological expedition in Turkmenia and the expedition of the Uzbek Scientific Research Institute in Samarkand. In 1934‑1971 she worked as a researcher at the Department of Western and Central Asia of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS / Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS.
