Biography, education, career:
In 1999 Kotin defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Muslims of South Asian origin in the UK, in 2008 – the Doctoral Dissertation, titled Processes of formation of the South Asian diaspora. Since 1992 he has successfully occupied the position of senior technician officer, junior researcher, researcher (1992–2001), senior researcher (from 2001 to the present) at the Department of South and Southwest Asia of the MAE RAS. Concurrently he is the Professor at the Faculty of Asian and African Studies of the Saint Petersburg State University and the Head of the Department of South and Southwest Asia of the MAE RAS.
