Biography, education, career:
On 15 March 1988 Marina Ishchenko defended her Candidate’s Dissertation, titled The Ethnography of the Russian Population of Sakhalin (late 19th – early 20th Centuries). In 1980‑1986 she worked as a coordinator and senior researcher at Sakhalin Regional Museum of Local History. In 1988‑1998 she occupied the position of Deputy Director of Sakhalin Regional Museum of Local History. In 1998‑2003 she held the position of Director of Sakhalin Regional Museum of Fine Arts. Since 2003 she is Associate Professor at the Department of General History, Sakhalin State University.
