Biography, education, career:

On 17 October 2000 Maria Ivshina defended her Candidate’s Dissertation in Izhevsk, titled Woman’s Status in Traditional Udmurt Society in the 19th – 20th Centuries. Since 2000 she has successively occupied the positions of Assistant Professor (2000‑2004) and Associate Professor (since 2004) at the Department of Russian History, Glazov State Pedagogical Institute. Since 2003 she also teaches history at Glazov Gymnasium (grammar school) № 8.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of Finno-Ugric peoples; History and ethnography of the peoples of the Urals-Volga region; Ethnography of childhood; gender studies of traditional and modern culture; mythology and every-day life of modern culture; regional studies and local history
