Biography, education, career:

In 1983 Fedor Zykov defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Yakut Settlements, Houses and Household Outbuildings (19th – early 20th Centuries). He successively occupied the positions of junior researcher (1969‑1986), researcher (1986‑1989) and senior researcher (1989‑1994) at the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Yakut Scientific Centre of the Siberian Branch of the USSR AS. In 1994‑2005 he lectured at Yakutsk State University.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of Siberia, the Extreme North, and the Far East; material culture of Yakuts
