Zhirov Evgeny Vladimirovich

Biography, education, career:
In 1925‑1930 Evgeny Zhirov was a student of the Department of Anthropology of the Faculty of Geography, Leningrad State University. In 1931‑1933 he worked as a researcher at The Institute for the Study of the Peoples of the USSR. In 1932‑1933 he worked as a second-grade researcher at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography. In 1933‑1937 and 1938–1941 he occupied the position of researcher at the Department of Anthropology of the Institute of Ethnology of the USSR AS. In 1937‑1938 he was a researcher at the Institute for the History of Material Culture, State Hermitage. Zhirov participated in numerous expeditions. During the Great Patriotic War he was a member of the Local Group of Anti-Aircraft Defense of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS.
