Biography, education, career:
On 29 June 1978 Galina Dzeniskevich defended her Candidate’s Dissertation at the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography, USSR Academy of Sciences; it was titled Traditional Culture of the Alaskan Athabascans (late 18th - 19th Centuries). In 1962-1969 she worked as a senior research assistant at the Department for Register and Storage of the MAE. In 1969-1990 she successively occupied the position of junior and senior researcher; in 1990‑2002 she was Head of the Department of Ethnography of the Peoples of America, Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography, USSR AS / Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of RAS.
