Biography, education, career:
In 1959 Petr Denisov defended his Candidate’s Dissertation based on his monograph Religious Beliefs of the Chuvash. In 1973 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation based on his monograph Religion and Atheism of the Chuvash People. In 1952-1956 he worked as a junior researcher of Chuvash Scientific and Research Institute. In 1957-1962 he worked for Chuvash State Publishing House. In 1962-1967 he lectured at Chuvash State Pedagogical University named after I.Y. Yakovlev. From 1967 he successively occupied the positions of Lecturer, Professor (from 1976), Head of the Department of History of the USSR (1973‑1987) and Head of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnography and Regional History (1990-2003) of Chuvash State University.
