Biography, education, career:
In 1940 Ekaterina Goryunova defended her Candidate Dissertation. In 1962 she was conferred the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences for her monograph Ethnic History of the Volga-Oka Interfluve Region. In 1923‑1925 she worked as a researcher at the Department of the peoples of the North; in 1925‑1936 – as a researcher at the Department of the Volga Region of the Central Museum of Ethnography / Museum of the peoples of the USSR. In 1936‑1963 she successively occupied the positions of researcher and senior researcher at the Institute for the History of Material Culture / Institute of Archaeology of the USSR AS.
