Biography, education, career:
In 1926‑1928 Semyon Ginzburg prepared a monograph in the MAE about ethnographic instruments based on their description. From 1925 he was a Lecturer of music history, and from 1935 – Professor of Leningrad Conservatoire. In 1929‑1932 he was a scientific curator of the Museum of Music History of Leningrad Philharmonic Society. In 1932‑1935 he was Head of the Sector of Musical Culture and Technology of the Hermitage. From 1945 Ginzburg was Head of the Department of Music History of the Peoples of the USSR, Leningrad Conservatoire.
