Biography, education, career:
In 1975 Margarita Gerasimova defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled The Population of the Northern Black Sea Coastal Area (Bosporan Kingdom) in Ancient Times Based on Craniological Data. From 1957 she successively occupied the positions of junior researcher, senior researcher, leading researcher at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences / Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of RAS. From 1992 she is Head of the Department of Anthropology named after Academician V.P. Alekseev at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of RAS.
