Biography, education, career:

On 27 May 1952 Olga Gantskaya defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled The Material Culture of Collective Farmers of Bobruysk Region of the BSSR. On 23 June 1989 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled The Polish Family: An Ethnographic Study. She successively occupied the positions of junior researcher (1952‑1965), senior researcher (1965‑1986), leading researcher (1986‑1991), and Doctor of Historical Sciences, academic advisor (1991‑1998) at the Department of Western Europe of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS / N.N. Miklukho-Maclay Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of RAS.
