In 1989 defended her Candidate Dissertation, titled Lamaism in Kalmykia in 17th – early 20th Centuries: a Historic and Ethnographic Analysis, at the Institute of Ethnography, USSR Academy of Sciences; in 2006 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled Pre-Buddhist Beliefs of Kalmyks: Analysis and Reconstruction, at the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, RAS.
