Biography, education, career:

In 1992 Kerimova defended her Candidate’s Dissertation, titled National sources on the ethnography of the South-Slavic peoples. The first half of the 19th century, in 2013 ‑ the Doctoral Dissertation, titled The formation and development of Russian ethnography of the last decades of the 19th ‑ first third of the 20th centuries (based on the study of the scientific heritage of the Haruzins family). In 1978‑1979 she worked as a junior editor of the Yugoslav editorial office of the “Progress Publishers” (Moscow), in 1980‑1986 as a junior researcher, in 1997 as a senior researcher at the Foreign Europe Department of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. From 1998 to the present Kerimova has successfully occupied the position of academic secretary, member of the editorial board of the periodical Ethnographic Library. Since 2004 she has headed the cooperation between the Institute of Ethnology of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the topic Ethnic and cultural ties between Russia and Slovenia (19th ‑ 21st centuries). Currently, Kerimova is a leading researcher at the Center for European and American Studies of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
