Biography, education, career:

Aleksandr Zubov defended his Candidate’s Dissertation in Biology, titled Certain Morphological Peculiarities of Human Permanent Molars. In 1971 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation at the Institute of Ethnography; it was titled Anthropological Odontology and Historical Sciences. He successively occupied the positions of junior researcher (1963‑1969), senior researcher (1969‑1971), Head of the Department of Anthropology (1976‑2002) at the Institute of Ethnography, USSR AS. Since 2002 Zubov is a senior researcher at the Department of Anthropology of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology, RAS.

Areas of expertise: Physical anthropology; History and ethnography of Finno-Ugric peoples; Anthropogenesis; anthropological odontology; anthropogenesis and general theory of evolution; origin of indigenous Indians of America; the use of anthropological materials in forensics
