Biography, education, career:

In 1930‑1932 Aleksandr Zolotarev did a postgraduate course at the State Academy for the History of Material Culture in Leningrad and taught in Leningrad Institute of History and Linguistics. In 1932‑1934 he occupied the position of Associate Professor at Leningrad Communist University. In 1933‑1937 and 1939‑1941 he was a researcher at the State Academy for the History of Material Culture in Moscow. From 1934 he worked at the Department of Anthropology and the Museum of Moscow State University. Besides, he occupied the position of Associate Professor at Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History (1934), at Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute (1937), and at Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute (1937‑1939). He lectured on the history of the primitive society, history of the Ancient East, and ethnography. In 1938 he was awarded the Degree of Candidate of Sciences in History, without defense. In 1942 she was arrested and sentenced to ten years of corrective labour camp for espionage and anti-Soviet activity. Aleksandr Zolotarev died in prison. He was posthumously exonerated in 1957.
