Biography, education, career:

Lydia Zasedateleva defended her Candidate’s Dissertation at Moscow State University in 1969. It was titled Tersk Cossacks in the mid-16th – early 20th Centuries. Historical and Ethnographic Sketches. In 1997 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled East Slavs in the North Caucasus in the mid-16th – early 20th Centuries. The Dynamics of Cultural Processes. Since 1955 she has successively occupied the positions of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Full Professor, Deputy Head of the Department of Ethnology of the Faculty of History, Moscow State University.
