Biography, education, career:

Vasily Voronov was awarded a Gold Medal for his dissertation Russian Spinning Wheels. In 1918–1930 he was Head of the Department of Peasant Life at the State Historical Museum. In 1930–1935 he was a Lecturer at Architectural Technicum and School of Art. In 1935–1940 he occupied the position of Director of Handicraft Museum (Museum of Crafts). In 1936–1940 he worked as a senior researcher at the Scientific Research Institute of Art Industry. Voronov was an experienced field researcher, gatherer of collections, curator of exhibitions, and promoter of folk art.
