Korvin-Krukovskaya Tatyana Aleksandrovna

Biography, education, career:

In 1918 1920 Korvin-Krukovskaya worked at the Petrosoviet Office, since 1921 she was an accountant at the Party School and Petrograd Infantry School. For two years she studied at the Indian Department of the Petrograd Institute of Living Oriental Languages, specialized in Sanskrit, Bengali, and ethnography. Since October 1 925 she successfully occupied the position of researcher of the 2nd category at the Department of India of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, being engaged in ethnography of India, as well as in translation activity. On April 11, 1930 was arrested in “the case of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR”, on August 8 1931 the OGPU board sentenced her to three years in «corrective labor camps». She was arrested again on June 10, 1938, sentenced to death by a Troika of the NKVD on November 3, 1938 Directorate and executed on November 22, 1938. Korvin-Krukovskaya was rehabilitated in 1967.
