Biography, education, career:

In 1930 Kiselev defended his Candidate’s Dissertation, titled The Neo-metal epoch of Minusinsk, in 1946 ‑ the Doctoral dissertation titled Ancient History of Southern Siberia. Since 1930 he successfully occupied the positions of researcher at the Institute for Archeology and Art Studies of the Russian Association of Research Institutes of Social Sciences (1930‑1932), researcher at the State Historical Museum (1929‑1938), researcher at the Moscow branch of the State Academy for the History of Material Culture (1932‑1937), senior researcher (1937–1945), Deputy Director of the Institute for the History of Material Culture (1945‑1951), Head of the Neolithic and Bronze Age Sector at the Institute of Archeology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1951–1962). Since 1943 he had been the Professor at the Department of Archeology, Faculty of History, Moscow State University.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of Central Asia; History and ethnography of the peoples of Siberia, the Extreme North, and the Far East; Archaeology of Central Asia and South Siberia
