Biography, education, career:

In 1962‑1967 Kiryanov studied at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Leningrad State University, majoring in African Studies. In 1967‑1970 he served in the Soviet Army. From February 16, 1970 to October 23, 1972 he successfully occupied the position of science and technology officer at the Department of Africa of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
