Biography, education, career:

In April 1961 Margarita Kashuba defended her Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Rural Community of Serbians in the 19th – early 20th Centuries. In June 1986 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled Marriage-Family Relations of the Peoples of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. In 1958–1971 she successively occupied the positions of junior researcher (1958‑1966), senior researcher (1966‑1986), Head of the Department of Foreign Europe (1986‑1992), Deputy Scientific Secretary (1962‑1966), and Scientific Secretary (1966‑1971) at the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR AS. In 1992‑1995 she was Head of the Department and in 1995‑2005 – lead researcher of the Department of Foreign Europe of the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of RAS. In 1987‑1990 she was a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Sovetskoye Slavyanovedeniye (Soviet Slavic Studies).
