Biography, education, career:

In 1982 Tatyana Ivanova defended her Candidate’s Dissertation, titled The Textology of Bylinas (Base on North Russian Records of the 2nd Half of the 19th – 20th Centuries). In 1994 she defended her Doctoral Dissertation, titled Russian Folklore Studies in the early 20th Century (The Main Approaches, Schools and Names). In 1975‑1978 she worked as a teacher of Russian and literature in Arkhangelsk Oblast. In 1978‑1979 she taught Russian at the Department for Foreign Students of Leningrad Pedagogical Institute. Since 1979 she has successively occupied the positions of senior assistant, junior researcher, senior researcher and lead researcher of the Department of Oral Folklore; Head of the Manuscript Department (1996‑2003); Deputy Director (2007‑2008); presently, she is a lead researcher of the Department of Russian Folklore, Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House), RAS.
