Biography, education, career:

On 27 October Vera Dyakonova defended her Candidate’s Dissertation, titled Tuvinian Burial Rite as a Historical and Ethnographic Source. In 1976-2002 she worked as a senior researcher at the Department of Siberia of the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Ethnography of the USSR Academy of Sciences / MAE RAS.

Areas of expertise: History and ethnography of the peoples of Siberia, the Extreme North, and the Far East; ethnography and archaeology of the peoples of South Siberia
