Biography, education, career:

In 2002 Venary Burnakov defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled “The World of the Invisible” in Khakassian Traditional Beliefs (the Spirits of the Middle World in Khakassian Traditional Beliefs of the 19th‑20th Centuries). Since 2003 Burnakov has been engaged in field research on the territory of the Republics of Khakassia and Altai. Presently, he is a senior researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of RAS.
