Biography, education, career:

In 1921-1930 – Presidium member and Head of the Department of History and Ethnology of the Scientific Association of Orientalists of the USSR. In 1924-1930 he was Chairman of the subsection for ethnology at the Conference Bureau of the State Planning Committee. Member of the editorial board of Vostok (The East) Journal. Head of the Department of Soviet East at the Museum of Oriental Cultures. He taught at Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after V.I. Lenin, at Turkmen Pedagogical Institute. In 1949-1959 he held the position of Head of the Department of General History at Voronezh State University. In 1947 he was conferred the degree of Professor.
