Biography, education, career:

On 4 July 1995, in MAE RAS, Sergey Bereznitsky defended his Candidate Dissertation, titled The Beliefs and Rituals of the Orochi (mid 19th–20th Centuries). On 28 November 2005 he defended his Doctoral Dissertation, titled The Beliefs and Rituals of Aboriginal Peoples of the South of the Far East: Ethnocultural Components and Contemporary State. Since 2010 Bereznitsky is a leading research fellow at MAE RAS.

Areas of expertise: Historiography, Source studies and Methodology of Ethnography; History and ethnography of the peoples of Siberia, the Extreme North, and the Far East; Spiritual culture of traditional and contemporary ethnic groups
